On April 30, LIFTbuild began its first lift on the Exchange project in Detroit, taking the next step to validate the years of research, development, and testing put into this technology. Traveling at a speed of 20’ per hour, the lift took approximately 10 hours and was locked into place on Sunday, May 1.
With the roof of the residential project now in place, work will begin at grade on the 16th floor, continuing LIFTbuild’s effort to emulate an efficient, manufactured process, much like an automotive assembly plant.
“That’s our ultimate goal,” Joe Benvenuto, Vice President of LIFTbuild said. “It’s making (workers) more productive, which of course helps us and our owners, and that’s really what this is about.”
